Bonzo pulled through his neutering JUST FINE. I went to pick him up from the vet around 4 o’clock this afternoon, and I could hear him crying from the entrance. “He woke up sooner than we expected from the anesthesia,” the vet told me. “Just try to avoid letting him get to active — you know, running around outside, jumping on the bed, stuff like like that.” Has he SEEN Bonzo’s energy level? I’ve got my work cut out for me!
The rest of my day was pretty good. I dropped Bonzo off early, around 9 (which is early for me!), then went to therapy, which was helpful! Melissa helped me devise a Las Vegas plan for if I decide to accompany Ben on his trip at the end of February, and Jean helped with with a lesson plan for Sunday School. Then I picked up my medical records from my neurologist and hematologist, and then I met Ben for lunch. Then I was tired so I came home and watched TV … another satisfying day!

Today Ben surprised me; as I was getting ready to take the pork chops out of the refridgerator for supper, he said, “Would you like to go on a date with me? For supper?” Of course I would! Not because I don’t like pork chops, either; it’s just such a nice surprise! We enjoyed Crusted Chicken Romano at the Cheesecake Factory together. Yum!
Tomorrow I’m taking Bonzo to the vet to get neutered. Sorry, Bonzo! :)

Tonight I made chicken in an orange ginger sauce — the recipe was from the “Cooking Light” magazine my mom gave me. It tasted really good! I also made some applesauce, which I managed to only burn slightly. Cooking is good!
The rest of the day was OK. At church, I sat in on the senior high Sunday School class … the class was pretty good, but I still can’t interact with groups the way I used to. It’s so frustrating! I didn’t do anything embarrassing, I just didn’t say anything. Oh well.
When we came home, we ate lunch and then Ben fell asleep for 2 and a half hours. I joined him for one hour, but that’s my limit — if I sleep more than that during the day I won’t be able to conk out at night. I was able to read a book after my nap (I tried to read before my nap and it didn’t feel like it was working) and start to cook and stuff, so I had something to do.

We’re back! I had a great stay with my parents in Boston, but now I’m back in Nederland. It feels really good to be back with our puppies! Chaco and Bonzo were apparantly good kennel guests; even Chaco managed to go to day care a couple of times. (But only with Bonzo; apparantly he didn’t like going alone very much.)
Today I got busy with “inspirations from Mom” — baking! I made Ghirardelli Double Chocolate Muffins, which were both good AND hard to screw up because they come in a box. I made rolls, which are slightly burned but still pretty tasty. I also tried to make applesauce, but I burned the apples completely AND I forgot to peel them. Good thing I only used half my apples; maybe I’ll try again tomorrow. The cooking was fun!

Kim didn’t get a call last night to give her a heads up about being a finalist in the Intel Science Competition before the names were posted online today circa 3pm eastern time, so she was resigned to cheering on her friends from RSI who were among the elite 40 finalists. She did, however, have to meet her principal at 10:30 to discuss “graduation stuff”. She and my parents had been trying to figure out what this meant; it didn’t seem so far off to me, though, that they might be trying to surprise her! Sure enough, she came home with a BIG check and an even bigger smile on her face :)

I’ve had some good days here at home! On Sunday, Mom and Dad took me to Ashland State Park to walk around. We were aiming for Hopkinton State Park, but Dad pulled into the Ashland State Park parking lot, so we just hiked around there instead. There was a dam and a big lake that were fun to explore. We got about 75% around the lake and Dad said, “You girls must be tired. I’ll go get the car! Back in 10 minutes!” Which of course he wasn’t :) He returned in half an hour, on foot, and we walked back to the car the way we came.
Then, Laurie came over for dinner! It was great to see her.
On Monday I was tired. I HATE being tired. Sigh.
Now I’m pretty much doing what I do at home: reading, writing, and napping. But the food is better here! :)

I’m here at my parents’ house, and things are pretty good!
Deke is in pretty bad shape. He lies on the floor ALL DAY LONG. Poor boy. When he does get up, he limps; he’s got paw problems. And diaherra. When he eats, my mom doses his food with antibiotics and vitamins. He’s gotten up twice so far; once, when I came home, and another time when I took the vacuum out of the closet. He doesn’t like the vacuum. I’d like to do something to cheer him up, but that’s hard when he stays asleep most of the time.
Mom and Dad are good! Mom took a walk with me around the neighborhood today. Dad must’ve been pretty bored, because this afternoon he volunteered to go to Sears and buy Mom the new vacuum she’s been lusting after. They seem happy :)
