IT’S RAINING! I hasn’t rained in Pasadena in a very long time. It’s also only about 50 degrees out. There’s snow in the local mountains and at Mammoth! I love this weather! It makes it feel like Christmas, or at least fall.
I finished my Ge112 lab before it got dark today. This is a major accomplishment.
After GPS Social Hour pumpkin carving, I ate dinner at Mongo Fresh (to stock up on my week’s worth of veggies) and then Target, where we bought boring stuff like deoderant and fun stuff like a “Pumpkin Spice” candle for the bathroom. Mmmm smells good!
Off to do some random things on my list of things to do…

I forgot my thing to look forward to — my morning class for tomorrow was cancelled, so I’m going to sleep in! Yay! Plus it’s Halloween and I’m going to take Chaco to school with me!

Greetings from Thomas 108, the lab I worked in as an undergrad. I’m here at midnight using the lab’s Hi-8 videocamera to convert Mr. Pannucci’s wedding video to DV on my camcorder so I can mail the original tapes back to him. I was planning to work while I converted the tapes, but I am having too much fun watching the wedding on my camera’s LCD! It was an amazing day. Thanks to all who helped us celebrate.
Today was what I dreamed of as a perfect day of being married. After class, Ben and I took Chaco to the pumpkin patch at the corner of Holliston and Cordova and picked out a pumpkin. First, we took lots of autumn pictures of Chaco (and us) playing in the pumpkins. Incidentally, it’s finally cooled down to normal fall temperatures here — last week, it was nearly 100F in Pasadena! Today was chillier — maybe 70F. (My apologies to all you Boston-ites reading this.) Chaco enjoyed jumping over the rows of pumpkins, except for when there were other customers. Then he got scared and just sat there staring longingly at the safety of the car.
Quick interruption — I’m watching my dad do the hokey-pokey on crutches. He broke his leg (in two places) a week before the wedding. He jumped out of a tree. My dad is the bomb.
Anyway, we took home a very funny shaped pumpkin, carved cow spots into it, and stuck on a little pumpkin for a head. Then Ben cooked grilled chicken sandwiches on the grill and we ate dinner together. Being married is so fun. :)
I bought a copy of Panther (OS/X 10.3) and installed it today. At first it didn’t seem quite worth it, but after playing with it for a little, I decided the F9/F11 key features alone were worth the $70. Of course, now I’m tempted to spend hours playing with features like giving people their own picture icons in Address Book.
Well, the wedding movie is over and I need to clean up the mess of wires and equipment spread all over the floor. Good night, y’all!

Well, here I am opening up my heart and soul to the internet community…blogging isn’t really my thing, but I had so much fun reading my sister Kim’s site that I started thinking about making my own site…then I stumbled upon my friend Jyoti’s site, and I enjoyed that, too! (I’m in there!!! Jyoti came to my wedding in July and wrote about it…thanks Jyoti! You made my day!)
I decided to give my own site a whirl.
So…here I am on a Wednesday night, mostly doing homework, except to configure my Xanga site and take Chaco out to poo multiple times. Grad school is a lot of work, so homework is mostly what I do :) (I’m studying geology at Caltech.) Anyway, today was an anomaly (sp?) because I went to the DMV mid-afternoon to get my married name driver’s license. Actually, this was my SECOND trip to the DMV for the same purpose; the first time, I was turned away because my marriage license didn’t have a raised seal. How many people actually fake marriage certificates? This time, I brought every bit of official paperwork I could find to make sure this would be my LAST trip. I discovered that I have hazel eyes — isn’t that neat? My eyes sometimes change color from brown to green. It’s one of the neatest things about me.
Kim (my sister) says that every day, you should have (at least) one fun thing to look forward to. Mine was going to Chick’s Sporting Goods after the DMV and buying a new watch! My old watch is special because it was a Christmas gift from my mom. Jewelry (and watches) are most special to me when they have a sentimental value, so I was reluctant to part with my old watch, but the color is coming off the watch face and I’m going to return it to REI. I don’t think my mom will mind. I got a very pretty new watch in exchange. It’s all silver (colored, not actual silver) and it’s waterproof to 100m so I can scuba dive in it! Plus, it’s pretty small, which is good because I have the world’s tiniest wrists. Mostly, I like it because it’s all metal, so it matches my engagement and wedding rings, which I have not gotten the least bit tired of starting at yet :)
Tomorrow my thing to look forward to is picking a pumpkin with Ben and Chaco! We’re going to take pictures amidst all the orange spheres. It’s really fun — we did it a couple of years ago. We tried to go earlier this week, but the smoke from the fires got so thick that by four o’clock it was too dark for photography! (Don’t worry, our house is safe — knock on wood.)

I finished 2 3/4 problem sets today. That is a good thing.
I met with Sarah the photographer this afternoon. She is really neat; I wish I could go be a photographer after I graduate! I wish I could *graduate*, even! Actually, it sounds really hard to pursue a career as a photographer. It might be more fun to keep it as a hobby instead of having to weasel my way into the business arena. Maybe I will be accidentally discovered as a photographer somewhere along the line while I’m doing science. In the meantime, I’ll have a well-decorated living room :)

The best thing about today was my nap! :) :) :) And my surprise from Ben!
The worst thing about today was that I thought I might be able to finish a couple, maybe even three, problem sets, and I finished none of them.
My thing to look forward to tomorrow is beef stew for dinner and hopefully making some more progress on my problem sets.
Your father knows what you need before you ask him. Therefore I tell you, do not worry about your life… But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well. Therefore do not worry about tomorrow, for tomorrow will worry about itself. Today’s trouble is enough for today. (Matthew not quite sure of the verses)
